This question is for anyone in a longdistance relationship.I live in New York, and my boyfriend lives in Jamaica.I see him every 3 months, but it is so hard.We speak on the phone on a daily basis, but it is not the same.I plan on moving down there in a year and a half on a permanent basis.Any advice on how to deal with the distance would be greatly appreciated. We have been together for 4 years. How do you cope with long-distance(especially in different countries)? Thanks for any advice! How do you deal with your long-distance relationship?
Hi Snowflake.
Long distance relationships are very hard and, unfortunately, many don't make it. But some do and yours may be one of them. What's important is to learn to be creative with your distance. For example, send him a gift package that contains some fun things like:
1) An empty pill bottle that you fill with tiny love notes so that he can ';take one a day'; for his ';health';.
2) A couple of books that include a hand-written note from you on the inside cover as to why you selected that book for him.
3) Music, etc.
Plan ';date nights'; together where you both do the same thing, except in your separate location.
What's great about your situation is that you've been together for FOUR years! That's great! Celebrate that you will soon be together versus worrying about how long you've been apart.
In the Sources, I've included links to more advice. Good luck! How do you deal with your long-distance relationship?
